The State Literacy Initiative Chairperson shall coordinate activities related to literacy outreach promotion and the efforts of the committees who work in this area. This may include Global Literacy Initiatives, Maryland Reading Month, Family Literacy, and Teachers as Readers. This Chairperson will serve on an "as needed" basis and may be included in the Board of Directors.
Reaching for 1,000 Books!
Mary Lou Nelson applied to First Book and was awarded 2,000 books for ages 0-6 for Everyone Reads to build partnerships with early-reading opportunities, such as Judy Centers, Books for Babies, nursery schools, daycare centers, etc. Lots of board books are coming our way in November, so we do need to partner with others to share this initiative.
