Greetings SoMLA Friends,
March 13, 2020
Given the evolving developments that have occurred over the last several days regarding the Coronavirus, SoMLA Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the SoMLA 48th Annual conference scheduled for April 1st- April 3rd in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
To all our registered attendees and members, we want to thank you for your patience over the last two weeks as we monitored the ever-evolving situation and tried to make the best decision in the interest of our stakeholders. We also appreciate the patience and understanding of our amazing team of presenters, speakers, exhibitors, and partners.
We are extremely disappointed to not be able to provide you with that opportunity this April. Our organization is grounded in service to our members and community. As hard as this decision is to cancel our annual conference, your health and safety and ultimately that of your students, colleagues, and communities is paramount.
We know how important opportunities for professional learning are for you and please be ensured that there will be the best of events to come in the future.
We have a lot of work to do to untangle and cancel all the commitments that go with putting on such a large conference. Much of the planning for this event has been happening for years. We appreciate your patience in advance as we work through some of these issues. We will be refunding your individual registrations in a timely manner. In the meantime, please remember to cancel any travel arrangements you have made, such as hotels and airline reservations.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Lowe
